James A. Tuccy, Director, Financial Systems

Jim Tuccy was recruited to Georgetown University in 1997 to lead the selection and installation of new financial systems that would be year-2000 compliant and enhance administrative efficiency and effectiveness. Since bringing in the initial project on time and under budget he has headed financial affairs technical support. In that capacity he is responsible for the division’s software and hardware resources including servers, workstations, printers and website. He has led the expansion of financial systems in the areas of user access and reporting, grants management, endowment reporting, and budget preparation and tracking.

Prior to joining Georgetown Mr. Tuccy was Associate Vice President for Computing and Information Resources at the University of Denver for 17 years. At Denver, in addition to his duties as chief information officer (CIO), he was responsible for the bookstore, purchasing, mail services, and printing services. Before Denver he was at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) for 10 years initially as manager of academic user services and later as director of administrative computing. While at Northwestern Tuccy was responsible for the development and distribution of the CDC-computer system version of the widely-used SPSS system (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) eventually generating in excess of $500,000 per year for the university.

Mr. Tuccy holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Loyola University of Chicago, a master’s in mathematics from DePaul University, an MBA in finance from the University of Denver, and has doctorial coursework in industrial engineering, higher education management, and computer science.

Tuccy resides in Reston, Virginia with his wife Gay Lee, also a University employee, and their two children.
